Reborn One Year Before My Death
Chapter 246
At the auction, Aria Bennett's attention was drawn to several antiques radiating unusual energy. Besides the millennia-old coral tree, she spotted a few artifacts imbued with vital energy.
The atmosphere grew tense. Many metaphysics experts had their eyes on these treasures, driving the bidding wars to unprecedented heights.
Aria only managed to secure a tortoise shell and a miasma pendant. Her wallet was drained, yet a satisfied smile played on her lips.
"Miss Bennett, a moment please."
Roman Vale intercepted her as the auction concluded. Lowering his voice, he said, "I need your help with something."
Damian Cross subtly closed the distance between them.
Conrad Vale joined them. "Bro, what's so secretive?"
After scanning their surroundings, Conrad said, "Let's discuss this in my office."
Tristan Cole tactfully excused himself, followed by Elias Vaughn and Marcus Sterling.
The office was fragrant with brewing tea.
Conrad poured Aria a cup. "My girlfriend's cousin is experiencing... unusual symptoms."
"Oh?" Aria arched an eyebrow.
"After returning from a southern trip," Conrad whispered, "his belly keeps expanding like a pregnancy."
Aria's teacup froze mid-air.
"Even stranger," Conrad's voice dropped further, "it moves."
Damian suddenly spoke. "When did this start?"
"Two weeks ago." Conrad looked at Aria. "Could you examine him today?"
Aria set down her cup. "I'm available now."
Conrad exhaled in relief, then hesitated.
Roman bluntly interjected: "Bro, did you forget to mention how insane that family is?"
En route, Conrad awkwardly explained: "The Knoxes... can be difficult."
Their car stopped before a European-style villa.
Valerie Knox stood at the entrance with a strained smile. "So this is... the expert?"
Her gaze lingered on Aria's delicate features, jealousy flashing in her eyes.
Upstairs, Elder Knox clutched her grandson's hand, tears streaming down her face.
Seeing the newcomers, she rushed forward. "Conrad dear..."
Her smile froze upon noticing Aria.
"This... is the expert?" Her voice rose an octave.
Mr. Knox Jr. openly scoffed. "Are you joking? What could someone this young possibly know?"
Mrs. Knox shrieked: "Our son is dying, and you bring us some little girl to fool us?"
Aria remained still, a faint smile on her lips.
Conrad's expression darkened. "Mind your words, Mr. Knox!"
"I don't care!" Knox Jr. pointed at Aria. "What can this brat possibly do? Get someone else!"
A bloodcurdling scream erupted from the bedroom.
"Ah! It's—it's moving again!"
They turned to see Knox's son writhing in agony, his stomach grotesquely distended with something undulating beneath the skin.
Aria's eyes sharpened as she strode forward.
"Stop!" Elder Knox blocked her path. "What are you doing to my grandson?"
Aria said coldly, "Delay any longer, and he won't survive the night."
Mrs. Knox screamed: "You're cursing my child!"
Roman lost his temper. "Damn it! Do you want to save him or not?"
The young man suddenly emitted an inhuman shriek as blood seeped through his abdominal skin.
Aria shoved the old woman aside, golden light flickering at her fingertips.
"Now, everyone shut up!"
