She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire
Chapter 505
Gabriel's assistance made things manageable even without a laptop.
But that afternoon, an urgent matter arose at NovaSight Labs requiring Camille's immediate attention.
Without proper equipment, handling it became challenging.
Viewing NovaSight Labs files on her phone, Camille regretted declining Damien's laptop offer that morning.
The situation demanded swift action.
She ascended the stairs and paused outside Damien's study.
After a brief hesitation, she knocked.
"Enter."
Damien sat at his desk, engrossed in work. He glanced up as she opened the door.
He showed no surprise at her appearance.
Before she spoke, he anticipated her need. "Require the laptop?"
Standing by the doorway, Camille responded, "...Yes."
Damien smiled and slid the laptop toward her, gesturing for her to take it.
Camille stepped inside.
She avoided looking around, moving directly to his desk to retrieve the laptop. "Thank you."
Damien simply smiled without replying.
Camille said nothing more. She turned and exited with the laptop.
As she left, she heard him say "Continue" to his screen, realizing he was mid-meeting.
Camille returned to Chloe's room to work.
Chloe wanted to play, but seeing Camille too preoccupied to respond, she grew slightly sulky.
Damien entered then.
Chloe hugged a pillow and sighed. "Dad, Mom's so busy..."
Damien hummed in acknowledgment. He pulled a chair beside Camille and sat.
The movement made Camille glance sideways. Seeing him, she remained silent and resumed work.
Since the screen displayed NovaSight Labs materials, Damien glimpsing it posed no issue.
He had his own tasks but stayed awhile, watching with interest.
After sufficient time passed, he departed, though regret lingered in his eyes.
Camille's workload extended late into the evening.
During dinner, she sat beside Damien. "I have more to finish tonight. Do you need the laptop?"
"No, keep using it."
"Alright."
Their smooth interaction pleased Helena. Noting Camille's slim figure, she urged her to eat more.
After dinner, Camille returned upstairs to work.
Damien didn't disturb her, staying downstairs to play with Chloe.
Around 9:00 PM, after Chloe's shower and bedtime preparations, she noticed her mother still working, keyboard tapping softly.
Not complaining about noise, Chloe suddenly recalled past habits. "Mom, why not work in your and Dad's room?"
Previously, Camille always worked in their shared room, not Chloe's.
Camille's hands paused on the keyboard. After two seconds, she replied, "Working here is fine." She added, "Apologies for disturbing your rest."
"You're not disturbing me." Chloe yawned. "I'll sleep now. Rest early too, Mom. Good night."
"Mm, good night."
Camille switched off Chloe's main light.
