Chapter 240

Camille and Marianne walked toward their parked car.

Just as Camille reached for the door handle, Selene stepped out from a nearby vehicle.

"So she's still here," Marianne remarked, giving Selene a brief glance before looking away.

Camille had assumed her grandmother hadn't noticed Selene earlier, but clearly she had.

As they watched Damien approach Selene, Marianne seemed to recall how he'd left the hospital room for over thirty minutes earlier.

"They seem quite close," Marianne observed.

Camille secured Marianne's seatbelt without comment.

As she started the engine, she spotted Hugo rushing out of the hospital entrance.

He must have just noticed Selene - his expression was a mix of shock and excitement as he hurried toward them. Camille took one last look before driving away.

"Dane!" Hugo called out, his eyes locked on Selene. "You're... you're really SC! I thought I was imagining things!"

Selene knew Damien had a younger brother in high school, though they'd never met.

Hugo's reaction confirmed his identity.

Before she could speak, Hugo continued excitedly, "SC, hi! I'm your biggest fan! I even attended your last race in person!"

"That overtaking move you pulled at the three-minute-three-second mark? Absolute legend material! I've watched the replay at least fifty times - it never gets old!"

He stopped mid-sentence when he noticed Damien's raised eyebrow.

Though Damien didn't interrupt, Hugo caught himself and suddenly realized something.

"Wait... Dane... you know my idol?"

Damien ignored the question. "Is that a problem?"

"N-no problem."

Hugo wasn't entirely surprised. His brother moved in influential circles - knowing SC wasn't completely unexpected.

"Why are you back down so soon?" Damien asked.

Hugo slapped his forehead. "Right! Almost forgot why I came down." He checked his watch. "Damn, is it that late already?"

He started backing toward another car. "Dane, SC, I gotta run-"

Halfway there, he suddenly turned back, cheeks flushing as he looked at Selene hopefully.

"Um... SC, could I follow you on PicShare?"

Before she could answer, he quickly added, "I promise I won't spam you!"

Selene smiled. "Sure."

Hugo beamed, immediately pulling out his phone to send the request.

About to leave again, he suddenly spun back around. "Wait! Could I get an autograph?"

"Of course, but you-"

Damien cut in. "Handle your business first. I'll bring your autograph later."

Hugo grinned in relief. "Thanks, Dane!" With that, he finally dashed off.

Though Damien rarely involved himself in Hugo's affairs, Hugo had always assumed his brother disapproved of his fandom. The quick agreement surprised him.

Maybe it was because SC was Damien's friend, and therefore worthy of admiration?
