She Left the CEO and Reclaimed Her Empire
Chapter 160
Wesley let out a heavy sigh. "Selene Lancaster sure has all the luck, doesn't she?"
Without waiting for responses from Camille and Gabriel, Wesley leaned closer and lowered his voice. "Even though Selene's team pulled weekend shifts, the project barely moved forward. Last night around seven, Damien Harrington returned to the office to assist with the critical phase. That's when things finally started progressing."
He paused dramatically.
"Here's the kicker," Wesley continued, his voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper. "Apparently, Damien and Selene stayed overnight in the upstairs office suite. They still haven't emerged this morning."
He shot Gabriel a knowing look, eyebrows waggling suggestively.
Gabriel immediately understood the implication.
Wesley was clearly suggesting that after finishing work, Damien and Selene had... other activities upstairs.
Gabriel's hands flew to cover Camille's ears. "Good heavens, what am I hearing?"
Camille had already caught every word. The ear-covering came far too late.
Besides, when Chloe had called Damien earlier, it was Selene who answered. That explained everything.
Just as Gabriel opened his mouth to respond, Selene materialized in the doorway.
Gabriel dropped his hands with a scoff. "Haven't they surfaced yet?"
Wesley spotted Selene too and coughed awkwardly. "Ah, seems they have now."
Selene looked exhausted but strangely radiant.
Between the overtime and whatever transpired upstairs with Damien...
Wesley abruptly found the ceiling fascinating.
Given the circumstances, her fatigue made perfect sense.
After nodding briefly at Gabriel, Selene joined her team's meeting.
Camille and Gabriel returned to work after their brief respite.
As lunchtime approached, they debated dining options.
That's when Damien strode in.
His gaze flickered to Camille before quickly darting away as he entered the meeting room where Selene waited.
The team stood to greet him.
Selene remained seated, smiling up at him. "You made it."
Damien nodded. "Progress?"
"Much clearer now. The pieces are finally coming together."
"Good."
Selene's lips curved. "All thanks to your assistance last night."
Damien returned her smile. "My pleasure."
He addressed the team. "Appreciate everyone's hard work these past days. Lunch is on me later."
Excited murmurs rippled through Selene's team, reinforcing the perks of working with her.
Then Selene suggested, "Shall we invite Mr. Ashcroft too?"
Meaning Gabriel, Camille, and Wesley's entire team.
Though Damien offered the meal, Selene proposed expanding the guest list - the kind of suggestion typically made by someone in an intimate relationship.
"Fine by me," Damien agreed easily.
With that, Selene exited the meeting room and approached Gabriel and Camille.
