Five Years Gone, She Returned a Billionaire
Chapter 330: Derek Prescott's Eyes Turned to Ice
Derek Prescott’s eyes turned to ice as he stared at the photo of Vincent Moreau.
“It’s a clever plan, I’ll admit. But Vincent Moreau was hidden by the family patriarch so thoroughly that no one has found him all these years. How am I supposed to get revenge for her? You’re the one she despises most!”
“I know where Vincent Moreau is. Sebastian Harrington tried to have him killed once, as if he was covering up some secret. I happened to save him. He’s in Fairview now, working as a butcher.”
Truthfully, Vanessa Bennett had intended to kill Vincent Moreau when she found him by the river. But before she could act, the man dropped to his knees and thanked her, calling her his savior. He swore undying loyalty to her, so she let him live. It turned out to be a wise decision. Over the years, Vincent Moreau carried out every dirty task for Vanessa, remaining fiercely loyal.
“If you arrange for me to be with Vincent and let her see that I’ve suffered the same fate, she will surely forgive you and fall for you,” Vanessa suggested.
“What? Vanessa, have you lost your mind?” Derek frowned deeply.
Vanessa lowered her head, her expression pitiful. “Derek, it’s nothing… My reputation is already ruined. If this can help you win Sienna… As long as you trust me, my heart will always belong to you. I love you. This is a small price to pay…” Her voice trembled as tears streamed down her cheeks, feigning terror. Overwhelmed by a mix of emotions, Derek took Vanessa’s hand and pulled her into his arms. “You’re a fool. How could I ever sacrifice you? You belong only to me!” His tone was firm and arrogant.
Vanessa smiled bitterly to herself. Such bold words—'you belong only to me'—yet he was constantly chasing other women. Of course, she hid her true thoughts, maintaining a meek and gentle demeanor. “I want to be with you forever too, but I… I also want to see you happy. I want to help you reclaim what you deserve.”
“Don’t worry. The plan is solid, but I have another idea. I’ll find someone to take your place that day,” Derek reassured her, his voice husky and resolute.
“Derek…”
Vanessa looked up at him, her eyes filled with feigned emotion as if she might burst into tears again. Her gaze made him feel like he was her entire world, greatly inflating his ego. He wrapped his arm around her neck and pressed his lips to hers. Derek wanted to take her again, but all he could see was Sienna Bennett’s face. Stunning Sienna, with those endless legs… He closed his eyes and imagined the woman on his lap was Sienna.
Being as observant as she was, Vanessa sensed Derek’s distraction. She knew exactly what he was thinking. Even as they embraced and kissed, his mind was on Sienna. Was he using her as a stand-in for Sienna? Since when had she, Vanessa Bennett, fallen so low? She wanted Sienna dead… immediately! Only with Sienna gone could Vanessa return to her former life. Sienna sat in the car as Dominic Sterling drove her to the Harrington Estate. Hearing her sneeze, Dominic asked, “Is the air conditioning too cold?”
“No, it’s fine,” she replied calmly.
Sienna was certain that witch Vanessa was scheming behind her back. She needed to stay vigilant and guarded at all times. Just then, Miles Reed called her with an urgent report. “Boss Bennett, you can’t return to the Harrington Estate right now. Valerie Duval got her hands on a Special Warfare 919 spy camera to surveil the estate. We haven’t pinpointed its exact location yet, but we know the general area.” Special Warfare? How did Valerie get access to Special Warfare equipment?
