Reborn in 1985: Taking Back My Life

Chapter 475: What Is Mine Is Yours

"Dad, I'd like to take Elena shopping for the wedding. It's a once-in-a-lifetime event—she deserves the best." Adrian tightened his grip on Elena's hand.

Sylvia immediately pulled out a passbook from her pocket and offered it to Elena. "Adrian, Elena, this is a small gift from your father and me."

Elena hesitated, glancing at Adrian for guidance.

"Take it. It's their blessing," Adrian said with a smile, giving her palm an encouraging squeeze.

"Thank you, Mom and Dad." Elena accepted it graciously, her fingers lightly tracing the cover.

Nathaniel checked his watch. "Discuss the arrangements with your mother. I have a meeting to attend." As he stood, Sylvia was already there with his scarf, deftly wrapping it around his neck.

Adrian led Elena upstairs. "Let's go to our room first."

The moment they entered, Elena handed the passbook back to Adrian.

"Why give it to me?" He chuckled, pushing it away before retrieving two passbooks from the drawer. "These are what I wanted to give you."

Elena's eyes sparkled. "What are these?"

"The blue one is my mother's inheritance. The red one is my savings over the years." He placed them in her hands. "From now on, you'll manage our household."

When Elena flipped open the blue passbook, her eyes widened in shock. The balance clearly read: 30,000 dollars.

"This much?"

"It's not much," Adrian said softly, sitting on the bed as he watched her count the amounts with tender amusement. "What's mine is yours."

She then opened the red passbook, where neat entries recorded each deposit, totaling 5,000 dollars. The memory of the 500 dollars he'd once pressed into her hand warmed her heart.

Finally, she checked Sylvia's passbook. 500 dollars—no more, no less.

"Figured it out?" Adrian laughed at her expression and pulled her into his arms.

"Hmm?"

"Dad's rule—500 dollars for each son's wedding." His fingers combed through her hair. "When it's the third son's turn, there'll be chaos."

Elena burst into laughter. "Your dad is something else."

"So..." Adrian suddenly turned serious, cupping her face. "Trust me. You'll have everything others do."

"Then let's go shopping now!" Elena sprang up, dragging him toward the door. "I'm emptying the department store!"

Adrian stumbled but laughed indulgently as sunlight streamed through the window, stretching their intertwined shadows across the floor.
