Reborn in 1985: Taking Back My Life

Chapter 117: Elena Ward Curled Up in Adrian Stone's Arms

Elena Ward curled up in Adrian Stone's arms, this time deliberately focusing on the sensation. As soon as her skin touched his, warmth surged from his body like a steady current. It felt like soaking in a hot spring in winter, the heat gradually seeping into her chilled limbs.

She pressed her small hand against Adrian's firm chest. The moment her fingertips met his scorching skin, the cold inside her receded like a tide. Even her weary spirit lifted.

Elena mused to herself: Adrian is like a tailor-made antidote for me—one with no side effects.

But it was strange.

In her past life, she had tried seeking warmth from others, but it had never worked this instantly. Did reincarnation come with hidden perks?

No. Though her healing force had awakened earlier this time, she had still suffered from its icy backlash at first. It wasn’t until Adrian appeared that things improved.

The key lay with this man.

What made them so uniquely compatible?

Was it because he had been present when her ability awakened? Did that grant him the power to counteract its side effects?

Elena made a silent decision: Next time, I’ll test using my ability without him nearby. Only then can I confirm if he’s truly my "antidote."

If he really was… then she might never be able to leave him.

Adrian felt the restless little head against his chest, his ears warming slightly. He subtly shifted away.

Just then, Rose Jackson entered with a bowl of ginger tea, only to find Elena already energetically folding blankets. Adrian was outside fixing the window, while her two nephews had the heated bed warm and toasty.

As the family bustled about, Helen Reed arrived with her daughter Emily Reed, carrying a basket brimming with fresh vegetables and a dozen eggs.

"Auntie!" Rose hurried forward. "I was just about to come see you after tidying up."

Helen chuckled, handing over the basket. "No need for formalities! I heard you were back and wanted to check in." She turned to Elena. "Right, dear? A godmother visiting her goddaughter is only natural."

Elena blinked. "Godmother?"

Helen feigned offense. "What? Am I not worthy of the title?" She had long planned to formally adopt Elena, strengthening their family ties.

Elena smiled faintly. "You’re absolutely right, Godmother."

Helen beamed. "Words aren’t enough! Soon, your godfather will host a proper celebration feast to make it official."

"Don’t rush, Godmother," Elena gestured to the still-unpacked room. "Let’s wait until my sister settles in first."

Only then did Helen notice Rose’s uneasy expression and the two hardworking boys in the yard. "Did you… come back just to help Elena pack for university?"

Rose flushed, stammering incoherently.

Seeing this, Elena cut in bluntly. "She divorced Darren Lewis. That bastard refused to pay for his own son’s critical treatment, claiming he couldn’t afford to raise three boys. Now she’s back with her sons." She clasped Helen’s hands. "Godmother, could you help transfer their residency permit to our family?"

Helen’s eyes widened in understanding. She sighed, watching the diligent boys. "What a tragedy… Back then, your father had no choice. Old Mr. Lewis died saving him, and his whole family knelt at the village entrance demanding marriage… Who knew it would end like this?"

She shook her head. "If your parents were watching from beyond, they’d be furious enough to rise from their graves."
