After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back

Chapter 418: It Was Time to Talk Money

Finally, it was time to talk money!

Donna Russo quickly jumped down from the windowsill.

The so-called window was just a palm-sized vent, too small even for a child to crawl through.

Jumping to her death was out of the question.

She had done it purely to draw attention and force Grant Holloway to show himself.

Fortunately, her goal was achieved.

But what she didn't know was that as she and her son eagerly headed toward Grant's office, the assistant behind them flashed a barely detectable look of pity.

* * *

This was Donna and Trevor's second time entering the luxurious office.

The gilded decor still dazzled them.

Donna got straight to the point: "Five million."

Grant raised an eyebrow. "I thought you wanted fifty?"

Donna cursed inwardly. Of course she wanted fifty, but would he give it?

She'd learned her lesson these past few days—the rich splurged on luxuries but were stingy with the poor.

They'd drop millions on racehorses or gamble fortunes without blinking, yet begrudged every penny to those in need.

Cheapskates!

What was wrong with sharing some of that wealth?!

She also understood the rich could turn on you faster than flipping a page.

Take Catherine Holloway—at first she'd groveled, trying to buy them off.

Once she turned hostile? Wouldn't even take their calls.

So throwing tantrums was useless with these people.

Might even provoke them.

So Donna dropped the hysterics and laid her cards on the table.

"I've thought it over. You and Paige were consenting adults. But you did hurt her. Compensation is reasonable—we can negotiate the amount."

Grant smiled faintly. "Learned your lesson."

"Five million, give me a straight answer. Yes, we take the money and disappear forever."

Grant: "I already gave Paige Lawson three million. Another two makes five..."

"What?! You gave that—Paige three million?!"

Donna nearly leapt from her chair.

Trevor's eyes bulged.

Paige hadn't breathed a word!

Both were silently calculating.

Grant said bluntly, "Leave your account number. Two million by noon."

Donna's eyes darted. "What exact time? We came all this way—best to be clear."

"Before twelve."

Donna exhaled. "Fine."

"Remember your promise, or else—"

With the windfall in sight, Donna vowed repeatedly: "Don't worry, I keep my word! Take the money and vanish!"

Trevor nodded, swallowing hard.

Five million!

He'd never seen that much money in his life.

Once they got it, first thing—make Mom buy him a luxury car. Show everyone Trevor Russo was somebody now!

Grant raised a hand. "Show them out."

The assistant opened the door: "This way—"

Outside the building, mother and son were still dazed.

Not fifty million, but five was still a fortune.

Enough to last their lifetimes.

As they plotted their return to the hotel, a truck suddenly headed toward them.

At first its speed seemed normal. No one paid it any mind.
