After I Walked Away, My Billionaire Ex Begged Me Back
Chapter 211: Grant Holloway Jerked His Hand Back
Grant Holloway jerked his hand back as if electrocuted, his eyes panicked. "I'm sorry, Clara... I didn't mean to... I just... didn't want you avoiding me..."
"Don't touch me!" Clara Whitmore clutched her throbbing scalp, her eyes reddening.
Rapid footsteps approached from a distance.
Mason Reed arrived with Connor Hayes in tow.
"Where are you hurt?" Connor bypassed Grant completely, his gaze locked on Clara's reddened forehead.
Thirty minutes earlier, he'd been signing an eight-figure contract.
The moment Mason called, he'd thrown down his pen and left.
He'd run three red lights before meeting Mason at the alley entrance.
They'd rushed straight to Clara's building in silent agreement.
Just as expected, they found Grant drunk and disorderly.
Clara took half a step back, avoiding Connor's outstretched hand. "I'm fine."
Connor's eyes narrowed at her disheveled hair. "Your scalp's red. That's not 'fine.'"
His voice dropped lower. "You don't have to pretend with me."
Grant suddenly lunged forward. "Connor Hayes! Who gave you the right to interfere?"
"I'll say what I want." Connor didn't even glance his way.
Grant turned on Mason. "Why'd you bring him? To humiliate me?"
Mason spread his hands helplessly.
Why was the fire directed at him now?
Connor's voice turned icy. "Mason came because he considers you a brother. Otherwise, who'd care if you lived or died?"
"Brothers?" Grant sneered. "Where was this brotherhood when you were stealing my girl?"
"She stopped being your girlfriend long ago."
"So that makes it okay? Connor, have you no shame?"
Connor scoffed. "Weren't you the one who dumped her at the bar?"
Grant choked on his words.
Connor turned back to Clara, speaking softly. "Go inside."
Seeing Mason nod in agreement, Clara turned toward the building.
She desperately wanted someone to rein Grant in.
Preferably before the police got involved.
With Mason here, things probably wouldn't escalate too badly...
Grant moved to follow, but Connor blocked him.
"Get out of my way!"
"Can't you see how much she dislikes you?"
"She hates you!"
Connor smirked coldly. "She used to tolerate your crap. Not anymore."
